Isspro EV FP gauge makes noise

I recently got a set of Isspro white faced EV gauges all mechanical exept for the pyro. My fuel pressure gauge makes a rattling noice when the engine is running, and depending on the pressure it can get worse or better. The needle doesn't vibrate though. The needle stays still and gives an accurate reading. I have a straight diesel line running to it. It sounds like air but I wouldn't know how to bleed it. My brother's gauge does the same thing. I have a buddy that has an Autometer Ultra Lite mechanical FP and has a straight diesel line running to it and he has no problems at all. Do any of y'all have this problem? Thanks

Eric

Did you install a needle valve in the line?

Running it almost all the way closed helps dampen the pulses from the injection pump reducing the buzz.

I don't have a needle valve. Where would I put the needle valve? Wouldn't the needle on the gauge move as well though? And why doesn't it do it on the Autometer?

The needle valve goes in line usually at the source, like my install.
Not sure why autometer doesn't do it, never had an autometer fp gauge.

The pulses will be enough to rattle the internals, but not the needle.
Mine needs re-adjusting when the temps start cooling off.
I'll get a little buzzing in the late fall.

Isn't that what the snubber thing is supposed to prevent? I was informed of the snubber when I ordered my Isspro's, haven't installed them yet, may look into the snubber in the future.

I don't know why but ISSPRO gauges rattle like that. Install a needle valve and it will be fine. Or if you want, you can move your gauge reading to pre filter and that will help a little.

You need to install a needle valve ASAP. Without a needle valve your guage can be destroyed in a very short time. If you unhook the tubing and then reinstall it, the rattle should go away.

Have a look at this thread:

What also helps is using a grease gun hose as a rubber snubber in the line.

It works the same as the rubber line in the factory steel line that runs between the filter canister and the VP.

On my truck, I pull the fuel pressure reading off the bottom of the filter canister. It starts with a grease gun hose to a needle valve then to a braided steel line to the guage. I can get the guage to rattle if I do a few real hard pulls and pull the fuel pressure right down. If by chance I do get a rattle, I just diconnect the line from the needle valve and let it sit and "drain" for a few minutes. After that, it's good to go.
