Issopro EGT Gauge

Was looking @ the Issopro guages on genosgarage.com. Glad i did cuz they are alot cheaper than Diprocol gauges and still match the 2001 interior guages.

My question is what is the diference between the pre turbo install gauge and the psot turbo install guage? I have the stock turbo. Which one do I need?? Thanks!!!

Just where they mount, and about 3-400 degrees temp. Generally pre-turbo is recommended, because by the time post turbo temps get too high, the motor is cooked.

jst remember when you drill and tap the hole pre-turbo to put grease on your drill bit, and get a magnet and get all the metal shavings out of your manifold!

After doing mine last week, I highly recomend taking the time to unbolt the turbo from the manifold (really simple job). Tape off the turbo inlet and block the manifold ports behind where you intend to drill. You'd be surprised at how many shaving this process creates. I don't want bits of metal passing through my turbo

i did unbolt only the 4 nuts on the turbo, it gave me enought clearence to pull it off, without taking off the exhaust, or intake or such...and put a thin metal plate between the turbo and manifold, then i drilled through the manifold, started the truck up, so the lil metal pieces would blow out, against the metal plate between the manifold bolts and turbo, and fall down.

what would happen if the metal shavings would go through the turbo? just curious.

I cant tell u what would happen but I know it aint good, cuz thats the problem people have with the K&N air filter, metal shavings breaking of the oil filter and being sucked thru the turbo!

Aside from possibly scratching up the exhaust turbine and the oil seals/ bearings it could also jam the turbine so it won't spin. And if it won't spin then you could warp the turbine due to uneven heating and unbalance it.

12valve,

While the Dodge turbo is easy to remove as compared to lots of other trucks I have drilled and tapped at least 75 Dodges without ever removing the turbo with no ill effects at all. The key is to start the engine and let it idle for 15 seconds of so, any small particles that did drop in will flow easily past the wheel and down the exhaust pipe. No scratches or anything etc.
