Smile Issopro tranny temp guage

Just wanted to put this out there for anyone having problems with tranny guage jumping around intermittently. I had my ground wire connected to the emergency brake bracket and guage would work for weeks and then start jumping around. It would do this for awhile and maybe start working again and sometimes not. Have read various posts and see that people are getting frustrated with the manufacture of the guage. This is what I did and problem solved. I re-grounded the wire back in the engine compartment to one of the empty bolts (one not already being used as a grounding bolt). I think that the bolt underneath the dash looks like a good ground but it is not. If this helps anyone, pls let me know, just curious. Thanks

UPDATE: Just wanted to let everyone know that I have been running this way for about 2 months now and the guage works fantastic, should have paid more attention to the grounding instructions provided by Dave at Diesel Manor.

i have been having the same issue for about a year now. I called diesel manor back when it 1st started they told me is was the amp box. Sent me a new one out (no charge). Did not fix the issue. I installed a new temp probe. Did not fix the issue. Currently I'm grounded under the dash. I'm going to try your suggestion. I'll report back.

Thanks

I really hope and believe it will work. The only reason I didn't use a bolt that was already being used as a grounding bolt was that I was a bit nervous that I may create more problems than I was already having. The one that I did use was under the hood (I think that it is what holds the fender on.) Most of the others on this side (drivers) were being used for grounds for other things. I used the one that was closest to the firewall but facing up. Did not interfere with closing of the hood. I should have taken a picture but I would be more than happy to send you one if you would like. Hope this solves your issue. Please let us know. If you look at the Diesel Manor install pictures you will see that Dave did use some under the dash but it was where everything else was grounded (a known good ground).

One more thing, initially I thought it was not working because at current temps in El Paso, TX it takes a while to begin marking. It generally coincides with the movement of the radiator temp guage (more than just a few miles of driving.)

Been meaning to post my results from re-grounding my trans temp gauge. So far the gauge has worked perfectly since the re-grounding. Just got back from a 600 mile trip no issues with the gauge.

Yeah, mine was the same way... freaky how it would act. I just checked all of the wires, found the ground to be bad, re-did it.

Thanks for posting.
