Installation Labor Cost Check

I'm kinda checking up on a shop doing some work for me. What should I expect to pay for (labor) installation of a Shift Kit into my tranny? How about installing a complete aftermarket vavlebody? Seems to me that installing an aftermarket valvebody would be cheaper, labor wise that is.

if you buy a whole vavle body change it yourself they are pretty easy to do and come with good instructions. I did my vavle body and strut and band anchor myself and i had never been inside a tranny before and it was very easy to install.

If you can change the tranny filter and fluid, you can do the valvebody install. Just don't over torque the bolts because they are very easy to strip. A shift kit is good but you may have to drop the pan more than once in order to get it adjusted to your driving style. Some shift kits come with hole plugs, I wouldn't install any of those in your actual tranny because I don't see how you would be able to take them out. There goes your core.

If you're going to pay a shop to do the shift kit then I'd say just go with a pre-built valvebody hands down. Not only will it probably be cheaper, you get it from an experienced tranny expert on these trucks.
