Injectors and warranty

Ok what do you think about replacing my injectors to 275's or DDII's? Will this be a noticable upgrade without voiding the warranty and compromising reliability. Or would a fueling box be a better choice first? In the future I will do both but for the time being I want to be on safe side and keep warranty and clutch a while longer. Also do 4" pipes sound that much better than stock straight pipe? Sorry I know alot of this has probably been answered before but any new input will be appreciated. Hey did I say I love DTR!!!!!

Get an Edge EZ.
If the dealer finds this, it will void your warranty.
So take the box off if you travel to your dealer for work, it leaves no trace.

--Justin

Re:Injectors and warranty

I could be wrong on this but I do believe that ALL fueling boxes leave a trace of what they have altered to increase the power. Its just that most DC dealers do not have the equipment like Cummins to look at that area.

And once again ...and not to dampen your enthusiasm to BOMB your truck...If warranty is a concern, do not modify your truck. A forum such as this feeds DC with the info they need and want to look for tell tale signs of performance issues that could cause a failure, hence restricting your warranty.

Ya wanna play, be prepared to pay.

BOMB smart.

For the most part, many modifications will not cause a failure anyway. Common sense dictates that as you go up the HP ladder...take care of all the weak links then and avoid a breakdown or a possible warranty hassle.
When I decided to alter drivetrain specs I kissed my warranty bye bye since the dealers are getting more and more vigil at finding issues since they get charged back for warranty stuff that DC does not approve. Another variable is how your dealer handles your issue and how well you know them and thats becoming harder to do with all the bulletins they get.

With running near 500 HP I only had one issue [head gasket] but that was at 52 psi and I did it my way with o-ring as opposed to going to the dealer.

Re:Injectors and warranty

I agree with CTD/359. If you are going to modify your truck be smart. Don't forget you are modifying the truck beyond what the original warranty was intended for. If your engine breaks as a result of your modifications you should pay for the damage. (sorry if I am sounding self righteous here)
As far as the modifications I started with the injectors 1st and then added the box. The injectors didn't really come alive until after the box was added.
One more thing about the box and injectors, I started with the 275's and EZ, now I have a Comp and Bully dog 2's. I wish I had started with them.
Tim

Re:Injectors and warranty

I realize if I Bomb my truck I'm losing my warranty I just thought I could get by with injectors or a fuel box for a while and still not lose my warranty. In my opinion Dodge should let us put a little S!## in the britches of these trucks for the working folk.Dont get me wrong I love my truck.THanks for the advice,Can't wait to get my Scotty II.

Re:Injectors and warranty

You won't have to worry about breaking the engine w/ a comp and DD3's, the tranny/clutch will toast first. I totally agree you won't break a Cummins w/ EZ and 275's, I'm just saying be prepared for your warranty to be void if something non related breaks and you have these on the truck. Let's face it the reason we all like CTD's is the motors are virtually indestuctable, but like any manufacturer a lemon can slip thru.
Tim

Re:Injectors and warranty

I understand about warranty but do I understand you right,a box before injectors would be best? And if I'm going to go ahead a void warranty would the TSTPM3 be a better choice over EZ comp or are the both equal? Oh well I'm sure once I do it I'll never look back. Thanks for all help.

Re:Injectors and warranty

The Edge EZ can be removed without a trace after hookup.
The Edge Comp 120hp needs to tap the pump wire to get the benefit of extra fueling above 65hp.

Im not very familiar with how the TST box hooks up, I know there is a pump wire connection along with boost fooler, but I think there is also a PCM wire tap that might be looked at by the dealer if you consider removing this box at some later point in time.

--Justin

Re:Injectors and warranty

Does the Edge comp hook up the same as the Edge EZ (except for the pump wire) therefor I could remove it like the EZ with benifit of doing pump wire in future??

Re:Injectors and warranty

The difference is the EZ only requires underhood connections, where the comp has a harness that runs inside to the control box.

Re:Injectors and warranty

Get the comp and stage 2 injectors your choice there all pretty much the same a little more smoke here or less there! You may want to concider some EDM injectors they are the new thing supposed to make more HP with less smoke.
