Injectors/Motor Oil??

Will large injectors cause your engine oil to dirty more quickly then if you were running the stock injectors? I have a set of Bully Dog stage 5 in my truck, and yesterday, i went to check the oil and it was black as ink. I use only Mobile 1 synthetic diesel oil in my truck. The oil had approx 5000 miles on it, this is the mileage interval when i change the oil. Thanks for your help

Black doesn't mean bad. Run it to your normal interval, then have a sample analyzed so you can make an informed decision on how long to run it. Delvac 1 is too expensive to dump just because it "looks dirty".

Mine looks nasty in about a week, but at 7k I was still at less than half the allowable soot.

Thats pretty normal for 5000 miles. The more soot you make the faster your oil will turn black.

Yes, but it has more to do with your driving style. If you almost never blow smoke, then your oil should darken at about the same time as stock.

Go around smoking everyone, and you'll get dark oil sooner.

Thanks for the feed back, even though it is black in color, does it mean that the oil is broken down? I saved some of the oil from the last change and i am going to send it out and have it analyzed

All the black color means is that there is soot in the oil. Diesel oils are formulated specifically to keep the soot in suspension. The oil gets black long before the soot reaches a level that the oil cannot hold.

Gassers don't put a lot of soot in the oil, so black oil in a gasser means that it is badly oxidized, usually from excessive heat.

As long as the sample was saved in a clean container you should get a successful analysis. I think you'll find that your oil change interval should be lengthened to at least 10k - even with the injectors. 15k would not be unreasonable for Delvac 1, analysis will tell you what is safe for your situation.

wow, that is some interesting information, i would have never guessed that diesel oil was formulated specifically to keep soot in suspension, i was just going off of black oil in a gasser=bad, i figured it was the same for diesel as well. Thanks for the information, it helped out alot
