Angry injector problems

well i think i have a new injector giving me problems! i installed new injectors 3 days ago, and since the install when ever i put the truck in gear with the engine cold, it bucks and lopes VERY bad but will not stall. when the engine is warm in gear it will idle but acts like a gasser with a plug wire pulled and is running ruffer than my stock injectors with 120000. i have put 200+ miles on the injectors and maybe its me but seems to slowly be getting worse. did i do something wrong? thanks for any clues Mark

I'd check for loose connections in the fuel lines.

were you extra careful not to leave out a crush washer, or leave an extra one in by mistake? That will cause a lopey condition. Also, what injectors are ya runnin now, the DDP 2's? Make sure you use the right thickness washers, not sure, but probably the thin ones.

I had a bad idle after warm up, pulled the injectors and changed the compression rings (crush washer).

CRAPPPPP, just did a search on injector installs, i removed my dv's 2 days before the injectors went in, so i could monitor the egt decrease before installing new sticks and spaced on the injector washer since you dont use the copper washers for the dv's. i will look at the old injectors tomorrow after work and see if the cooper washers are still stuck to them. but if there not no problem, already have a set of DDP 3's cumming this friday. i just checked my old injectors and all of the old copper washers are still stuck where they should be. where do i go from here? today i snuged the lines one more time , made sure there was no fuel leaks, could i have just got a bad injector in the bunch? i would realy hate to put the 3's in and have the same results. let me know what else to try. thanks Mark

I had a leaky injector . It loped at idle and sounded just different. I think I found it by spraying some soapy water around the injector nut. Mine did not leak any deisel out of the injector but you could tell there was a leak when the soap started bubbling.

Are you saying that the ones in the truck dont have washers or do? If not they can be had for cheap at Cummins. They are kind of a one time use washer to.

I would vote for some contamination getting into the high pressure fuel line and into the injector(s). Very easy to knock a flake of paint off of the fuel lines when doing the DV's. You may have to loosen the lines to each injector to isolate the problem. Be careful of high pressure spray though. If you find the problem you may be able to have that injector tested and cleaned. Make sure everything is spotless when changing out the lines from the pump to injectors or you'll have the problem all over again.

thanks for the replys guys, i have been outside for hours trying to isolate the problem.
AAmeeting, the new injectors do have the washers, i thought maybe i left an old washer behind when pulling the old ons out.
paul, i was thinking the same thing about contamination, after work tomorrow i will try cracking the injector lines.
Jambbii, before i leave work tomorrow i will try the soapy water.
Thanks and i will keep you posted, Mark
