Yes you can put new "nozzles" on your old injector bodies. I would get a shop to do it for you. Make sure that they are flow balanced and the pop-off pressure is also balanced as well. I would buy a set that already done for you from a know injector shop. Money well spent in my books.

What kind of tool is needed to test flow balance and pop-off pressure? I have bought the "already done ones" and they went bad or were not put together right. I dont want to pay some one else for something I could do if I had the right tools. Maybe it is easier than what I am making it out to be or harder but finding someone who cares about thier work with out haveing to drive the miles is hard for here. I have alread took the head off my truck for a head gasket leak and ended up two machinest later with the good job? and a truck that does not have the old performance it use to. I am trying to solve some problem with out invalving any one else.

I would talk to a diesel injector shop and see whats required for tooling. The next best option for you is to assemble the injectors and install them into your truck. The only issue is if you start having issues at start-up or operational problems. There is lots of good shops out there that the can do the pop test and a flow balance. Its just a comfort feeling knowing that its been checked out on a bench.

ok I went to a shop. I watch them pop test the injectors and the range was
#1 was 4250
#2 was 4300
#3 was 4150
#4 was 4270
#5 was 4300
#6 was 4450 psi
now is there a need to look into shimming these at this range? the shop said the ideal is around 4200 to 4400 psi. should I look into doing something else or put them in the truck? Will the computer remeber that it needs to fire the number one injector at a different time than the number six because of the the different spring pop off presures?
