Injection pump questions

I am just curious why these are so expensive and why they require speical modding. I am just wondering because eventually I would like to upgrade mine. What are modded on these. Sorry if these questions seem a little vague but this is the only thing that seems somewhat voodoo to me.

Thanks,

Josh

They are expensive because they are machined to very stringent requirements, aren't very common to fail, and only bosch shops are authorized to repair them. For a 95 like yours I think for the most part the delivery valves are changed so it flows more fuel like the 1998 12V 215hp CTD did rather than your stock hp rating. I'm not sure what they do different when making a racing 12Ver pump though.
