Going to hit 100,000 miles on the way home from work today. Original VP44.
Only replaced one lift pump at around 54,000 miles. Otherwise just normal
oil and filter changes. I guess this ol Cummins is pretty reliable after all

Not to freak you out or anything, but my VP went at 100,300 miles. Dealer was good about it and replaced it under warranty. They said LP was bad but wasn't covered under 7yr/100k mile warranty and wanted to replace it with intake one for about $700. I put a campaign pump on for a few weeks and then went with a FASS HPFP.
Good luck

First thing I learned in here was to install a fuel pressure gauge. Thats how
I caught my first lift pump acting funny.

I had a FP gauge on mine when the VP died and it didn't show any loss of pressure before the VP died. The VP can die with perfect fuel pressure. Not sure why the dealer said it was bad (don't know if they measured flow, pressure or what, but I wanted no part of an in the tank pump)

Mine went at 117K but I've read of 159K.

Start putting back a little money...they won't quit unless yer broke

Could be worse, a 1965 Vette 327 FI assembly costs over $2200 if you can find one.

Original lift pump still going, original vp replaced just past 200K+ miles because I have a few long distance trips towing this summer and don't want to push my luck.
