How many rpms should my truck be at when at idle? I heard 750 but it is only like 500. How can you increase the rpms at idle? Will it mess up shift points and the engine overall?

You'll have more problems with the idle too low than you will with them correct.

 

Anyone else have an opinion?

 

mine was low....750 in park, no loads. 500 loaded in gear. I raised mine to 750 in gear with all loads on.....lights, AC, and fans. Idle is easy to raise, and will not affect any other variables.

 

Infidel steered you right........it's not too hard to adjust once you locate the screw.......you can't see it - you have to feel for it........The dodgeram.org directions are great........it is a good site for technical service data and pics.

 

What are the 24v supposed to idle at?

 

The idle is not hard to adjust at all , and once you find the screw you can see it too , stand beside the truck , and look right down over top of the master cylinder , it is very easy to adjust , especially if you have a 10 mm box end racheting wrench , one with a swivel on the end , it is a snap to adjust. did it on mine a few weeks ago,

 

Can you even adjust the idle without a scan tool?

 

mine is at about 850 or so i would say in nuetral or park, and right above 750 when in drive and with brakes applied,

 

I don't think you can adjust Idle in 24v. Mine Idles at 875 or so. Think it's kinda hi.

 

Infidel is right. 750 for the auto and 900 on the 5 speeds. Still I set mine at 850. I just don't like the higher rpm.
