i justhad my head off and found 6 cracks. i bought the head from my local cummins dealer for 1100 had it o-ringed for 450 and got the gasket for 100 . so you should be able to stay under 1800.the porting is where its going to get spendy. a good port job takes hours. you have studs yet?

Give Garrett a call on those heads, and see what he will do on the price. You might be surprised.
