I got a phat shaft!!

Well I got my PS62/12 installed today (thanks again Doug ) and all I can say is man this thing rips. It taps 52psi like it's nothing and EGT's struggle to hit 1500* where as before they would fly there. It drives so nice to. Doug put the larger wastegate in it for me and man this thing is massive. Looks like they took a plasma torch to it and opened it up as much as they could. It's amazing what an update in technology can do for something. I loved my KSB-1 but I grew out of it and this is the next greatest thing. I can't wait to stuff an S400 under the bottom of it.

Don't worry. Head studs will be done in the next week or two and then dyno is first week of february. Hopefully with a little alcohol involved.

I know the feeling. I am fixing to finish a big job, and the invoice will be for enough to cover my clutch and tranny. Only thing is it is for a company that won't pay for 60 days. The wait is gonna kill me...

Working on it. Gonna sell this KSB-1 and stuff and hopefully free up money for some studs and water/meth and then with the tax return hopefully at least the billet input. Dunno though. We'll see.

i thougth the ksb-1 would be equal to the ps62, since its price isnt much difference. the ksb-1 sounds really restrictive compared to the ps62. are they the same size?

They are in fact the same size but the ksb-1 has a small housing on it to make it spool really quick. It's a great turbo for the 400-450hp club. But at 500+hp it's just to small and I was flooding it out when I went to WOT. When I was at 438hp you woulda never convinced me that anything was better. That ksb-1 would light up like mad and keep egt's right at 1250* all day long. It simply became to small for me though. It's interesting though that a turbo of the same size would flow so much more air.

hows the spool up compared to the ksb-1. why didnt you get the famous Super phaftshaft, cause its a 14cm exhaust housing?

Bingo. Since I've got a tight automatic and I plan on running twins later, doug and I both felt that the 12 housing would be better suited cause I do a lot of city driving and need a very fast spooling turbo.

Spool up is very nice. I wish I could give yall a good comparison of a dead stop WOT spool up of the ps62 but it's just not possible with it raining like it is. All I know is that the ksb-1 would hit 30-35psi in first gear with a 0psi WOT standing stop so this PS62 has got a lot to live up to.
