HX40/35-14
I want to Hybrid my HX35-12 to a HX40/35-14.I see many sources here have exhaust housings. But were can I buy compressor parts for this mod.I have a 2001 6sp and live at 10,000 ft.thanx
Re:HX40/35-14
Boyturbo...If you are trully at 10,000' stick with the stock turbo...You're not going to get anything better...As far as I know, there is no such thing as a HX-40/35-14. Even if there was, it would not help you at that elevation.

Steve
Re:HX40/35-14
Thanks for the replys.I live In leadville,CO.We are at 10,251 FT elevation.I tow loads up a step grade for 7 miles from copper 9000ft to the top of climax mine 10,800ft elevation.I over temp on egt half way up then have to drive very slow the rest way up Im looking for a turbo to cool me down but spool nicely If possible .I am running a FMS box right now would like to add bigger Injectors but need to get the egt down first.Thanx
Re:HX40/35-14
Boyturbo...A larger turbo will require more fuel ie., larger injectors..The problem you have is not enough "AIR". Increasing either, or both will greatly increase EGT'S over and above what you already have...believe me I live at 5700' no where near where you are, and I have a hard time with my mods.

Steve

Leadville eh! Ride sleds up there sometimes see if you recognize these pics

Re:HX40/35-14
That Is what I Im speaking of a Dodgezilla. Some one had posted that they ordered the parts to do this but I cant find the post.Want to know what my options are.Can I buy parts. Or Is there machining to and have one made.My truck has 20,000 mi on It can I send It In to have It hybrided to save money.Im going to call wildcat monday.Any other options any of you may have would be great. There are trucks up here running HX40s and do a great keeping egts In check but spool slow with are thin air.Thougt maybe the HX40/35 would be the turbo for me but Im open to any turbo that would work well up here.Thanx

Re:HX40/35-14
I'm running the stock 12cm2 WG turbine housing. I have my boost controller set at 35psi. Not long ago, I made the trip to Red River for the Memorial Day Run. I had ~1K of stuff in the back and pulled two dressed Harleys on a very heavy tandem axle trailer through the passes. It was nearly like not pulling anything at all.
The hx 40 compressor parts work great, move more air at all rpms. When I first put it on and tried it, max boost jumped from ~30 to 42, I had to turn down my controller. The turbo does tend to "bark" a little more frequently, but really only when letting off too suddenly. It would sometimes do it under partial throttle when pulling a load uphill and the TC locks up a bit too soon. I think a better air intake system (Scotty II) would help. I'm still running the K&N in the stock box. :
Now when I put my 370s in, it's a little different story- not only can I pull 16" of vacuum on the airbox, but I think the 12cm2 housing is driving the little HX35 too hard. I originally planned on changing to the Banks 14cm2 "Quick-Turbo" housing. It's supposed to spool almost as fast as the 12 but allow less exhaust restriction. It might slow the turbo down a bit, but at my fueling level, I thought that would be good.
Now, I have decided to go for twins and am in the process of collecting all the pieces. That way I can have a bunch of power and not have to worry much about EGTs when pulling really heavy stuff (~24K). I'll eventually have the new 14cm2 quick-turbo housing for sale along with a "Power Elbow" & 4 inch stainless downpipe. I want to get the twins on and make sure they're going to work well first.
