Question hx35 off of a 24 valve and put on to a12 valve

I have a buddy with a totally stock 93 250 ram and I was wondering if my old waste gated hx35 would fit or even make a differance? My truck has the ho engine and the old turbo already has a four inch down pipe. Any suggestions would really help

if his truck is pretty mild, it'll work well

will the exhaust bend fit ? the down pipe on the truck has a more agressive bend in it than that of mine.

you'll have to mod the downpipe slightly. also, there were two different back plates for the HX35... one has a ~45* elbow w/ a two bolt flange... the other is a 3" v-band connection, and then they had a 45* elbow w/ a two bolt flange that banded to that.

if yours has a v-band connection, it won't be too bad. I think you have to add a couple inches to the first section of the downpipe.

thanks for the advice. Is it worth doing or is it a lost cause?

it depends on what he uses the truck for... the turbo will spool up much quicker, but it won't have as good of a top end charge I don't think... tough to say... the increased boost might allow it to pull better on the big end too. I'd probably do it just for the hell of it.

The HX-35 works awesome on a 1st gen! Like Forrest said, if you have the v-band backplate it's real easy. All you need to do is move the downpipe back or shorten it about 1.5 inches. I have a WH1C (functionally identical to an HX-35) off a '94 on my truck and I love it. Everything got better when I put it on, especially turbo lag. Wish I had a buddy like you, I had to buy my turbo off Ebay.

if you need a v-band backing plate, I've got one laying around somewhere.
