Clutch1 I spoke with Dennis and asked him about this break in period and he said it was little if any do to the testing at the shop.
Todd F, As far as not being a towing turbo well........thats the exact reason I bought this turbo I was told from everyone in the "know" that this is the ultimate towing single and since I'm hooked up to about a average of 8000# 3- 4 days a week hauling horses I would not have bought it if it was a performance turbo first.
I don't know but I have faith in HTT that they'll get this all sorted out with what ever the outcome .
I agree with Hohn this has been a great thread with a ton of info and quite honestly I don't mine being one of the guinea pigs just as long as we find a CURE!!

I'm at 2805 feet up here in Alberta, Canada. I run it hard when it's cool. It's about 90 degrees here lately so I've been ***** footing around till it's cooler out... I have a HRVP 44 so that makes a big difference, much hotter egt's...

I actually thought about nitro but I really need this fixed before I go there and I need to study up some on it to.

I would love to see a dyno chart of someone that has a 14cm cast exhaust housing then switches the housing for the 13cm stainless on one of HTTs turbos.
I really figured I was in between a Super Stock 62/71/13SS and a HTB2 62/65/14 (or 13SS exhaust) with my M4s and a EZ but these post tell me that the smaller 65mm turbine wheel would be the way to go for me

According to what I'm hearing from some guys with the Garrett stg 3, they are seeing positive manifold pressure at idle! Now, there's also saying this turbo is not delivering the goods in EGT reduction, but with a modified turbo outlet (ditching the cast elbow), they are seeing big improvements over the pre-modified state.

As far as the stainless housing goes these are going to be popular for twins since the wastegate can literally double the flow of the cast iron housings thus eliminate the need for an external gate. Or thats what I hear anyways

by my experience with my 64/14 i completly understand what clutch1 was saying earlier about the egts staying low on a hard launch, but being uncontrolable from a rolling start. that is exactly what i am going through. after talking with dennis at htt, i am pretty optimistic about changing to the 65mm wheel and the stainless housing. i am going to try getting it sent off to htt tomorrow to get fixed up. when this hot weather hit, it was like a completely different truck, it wont spool and smokes out 4 lanes of traffic just easing into the throttle. im getting tired of people passing my and flipping me off. hopefully the 64/65/13 will be the answer to my prayers

Hope the 24 valvers won't mind a 12 valve chiming in.
I started with a 62/12 but was way too hot with fuel. Upgraded to a 64/14 with what I thought was a 65 exhaust wheel. Ends up it was the 71 wheel. I had similar problems to what has been described. Very hard to spool (even with my fueling) but once it lit, it would almost explode. I had tried several tunings of the AFC/plate but still too hot even on low hills with 1000# in the back. Spent most of my time switching the OD off and on to climb hills/get up to speed. It would clear the smoke on a sled-pull but the temps had climbed off the charts by then. Not a user friendly combination.
Now I'm waiting for a 64/65/13SS. Hopefully the smaller exhaust housing and wheel will spin alot better. UPS says it will arrive tomorrow and I have a pull Sunday. I'll post updates when they come.
Is anyone else with a 12 valve running the 13cmSS housing and if so what compressor size and exhaust wheel size do you have. What combo 64 - 66 compressor side 65 - 71 seems to yield best results for high-performance, non-towing applications. I know too an auto tranny and a big single are not the best combination but twins aren't until our next single is born in January
