how big on the injects
how big on the injects
how big of an injector can a stock fuel pump with a pusher pump handle,in other words after what size will you start to see no gain by going bigger without pump work...thanks
are you asking for the dmax or a dodge? On your dmax I believe you'll start seeing bursting/surging without a pusher pump once you stack 2 or more boxes. Single boxes should keep up fine.

Most of what I hear is that the VP44 on your 99 Dodge will have lift pump issues around the 375-400 hp mark.........there are many ways to upgrade the lift pump.........just do a search - that is probably the biggest thread subject in the 24v forum........as for the VP44 fueling limit, I'm not really sure - there seems to be conflicting opinions.......it seems that if you have the right lift pump to fuel for the desired hp, the VP44 should be able to fuel for just about any desired hp level, although there is obviously a limit........does anyone have some practical experience on the fueling limit of a VP44 before internal pump mods are required?........what is changed in the pump to allow for higher fuel flow rates?
Hey Jess,
Glad to see you wanting to play with the Cummins,,,,,,
You know that Tim is running the Mach 6's with a stock VP-44 injection pump and the Fass. You might PM Johnner (banshee) and see what he was running on his old truck because he was running a pusher (Carter I think) with the stock lift pump.

Jess:
Both Tim Barber (Timinva) and Bobby Downes are running Don M's Mach 6's on their
trucks with no problems! I don't remember what "pusher pump" Tim is running (I
think it is the FASS) but Bobby is running a Holley Red Pump with the larger -6
stainless steel braided line from the front of the gas tank all the way up to the
VP-44 pump. He also is using the larger banjo bolts from Geno's Garage. I run
the same thing on my 2002 and hold 18-20lbs of fuel pressure at idle and NEVER
see it get below 13-15 at WOT. This is running a 125 HP injector. Bobby is in the
same range as I am and the Mach 6's are 220 HP injectors I think.
With reference to your question about what the "limit" is on the VP-44 vs large
injectors, my answer would be to look at what happened to Tim at our N.C. Dyno
Day. You saw how he actually lost H.P. with the Mach 7's vs the Mach 6's. My
figures from that day show 588 H.P. on with the Mach 7's (#2 only) and 606 H.P.
with the Mach 6's. You yourself made a statement about adding nitrous to that
and that is a valid point, however, I don't know that the head gasket could take
it without 14mm studs and firerings. My experience has been that with all of that
(on a Dodge CTD) you will need the 14mm studs AND firerings to do with a Dodge
CTD what you and Buck do with the Duramaxes.
Anyway, hope this helps you some. Good luck with the new/used Dodge CTD!

Jess give me idea how much air or n2o you are going to add. I have run alot of big injectors and can probably save you some time and money. Your etc pump will support 200 hp injectors at least. You gonna run twins? I installed a new set on mine last week, and I have a spare set sitting at the shop. PM me if you need some help on twins or injectors. Tim

i was gonna go b1,as i have one lying around from my 01 dodge, but twins sounds intersting, and yes i was thinking nos and headstuds to start with and going with o ringing later,as far as nos i am ,looking to run a progressive nos controller with no nozzles in it but restrict ther line flow with 4an line,il be in touch tim...thanks for all the help...jess
Jess it is hard to beat the price if you have a b1 laying around, unless you want to use it as the secondary in twins. Depends on what housing is on the b1 but a stock hx35 and ht3b will put you near 600hp. You will need bigger injectors than bd5s to do that on #2 though. I have seen people dyno with twins and the big, dirty bd8s and they were around 570. I can help with inj that will push over 600. Bully dog 5s, a b1, drag comp and a big shot of n2o will also get you to 600 or close. Tim
