Little big monster truck or big little monster truck?

Not quite sure which thread to post this one. It's different. Take a look at;

http://www.auto55.be/nieuws/9700-mon...jk-grote-smart

The Smart ForFun, a Smart ForFour with monster truck ambitions, caused a stir at the Athens auto show in November 2005 but now there's a big-wheeled sequel – the Smart ForFun2.

Stefan Attart (46), Greek 4x4 rally champion, has followed the initiative of Mercedes-Benz Hellas with some very clear ideas: his new off-roader has the body of a Smart ForTwo but runs on the chassis of a ground-crushing Unimog 406.

It's a combination of two vehicles, each with cult status in its segment. It's no wonder, Mercedes says, that the Smart ForFun2 awakens the inner child in everybody who sees it.

The platform for the Smart ForFun2 was decided on in January, 2006 and Attart started working on the first designs; a tough job because there's far more to building an off-roader like this than merely bolting four big wheels under a Smart ForTwo.

A design was created, based on technical drawings of each vehicle that clearly showed the direction the combined vehicle would to take. Attart laid down the design that was to connect the vehicle with the platform and precise attachment points were defined on the axles and chassis.

The engine and transmission were adopted from the Unimog. The OM 352, a six-cylinder diesel engine with a capacity of 5675cc, was given a prominent and clearly visible position on the front axle. It delivers 61kW - an impressive figure for the Smart ForFun2.

The diesel version of the production car has a 30kW engine.

The dimensions also turn heads: tyres on 26" rims, not to mention ground clearance of 65cm and an unbelievable total height of 3.7m.

The designers wanted to give the Smart ForFun2 maximum off-road mobility - and the platform of the 406 offers optimum prerequisites for off-road driving. Oversized wheels further emphasise the off-road character and there's a safety cage made of aluminium tubes.

To optimise the vehicle for off-road driving, in addition to special shock-absorbers, Stefan Attart fitted a manually controlled air suspension system so the driver can adjust individual springs – a particular advantage on extreme downhills.

As with the real Smart ForTwo, some people are sure to find the concept of the Smart ForFun2 too radical; others will love it - with not many opinions in between.

Think you’re too big to ride a tricycle? What if that tricycle has a 4-foot-tall tire in front, regulation-sized racing slicks in back, a Dodge Viper bucket seat, and a 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 engine? How’d you like to take that baby for a spin around the block

Now this would be some fun to cruise around town on or take it to the drags
