Hot Rod Vp On!!

got er on today heres what i noticed:
Smooth idles (i wish it loped) higher idle 900 rpm.
3 psi increase wot, egt finally past the 1300 mark.
tremenous top end power.
One thing tho. if you give a lil throttle i gets real lopey, maybe even sounds like a miss. but it doesnt do this under load or idle. any suggestions?

That's where mine sound lopey- right around idle when the clutch disengages. I'm thinking maybe setting a higher idle would eliminate the lope.

So did ya peirce the wire yet?

I have a friend that bought a drag comp and tapped the wire. Well that lasted about 30 minutes and his vp decided to quit. So he went ahead and got a HRVP. It lopes like a sombuck at idle. It runs pretty dern good with just the HRVP. Is it normal for these pumps to lope like that? It sounds almost like a miss.

From what I've read, it depends on the builder and what they do to make it a "HotRod" pump.

My Industrial Injection pump doesn't lope, but I've heard that some of the other builder's pumps do.

Mine is an Industrial Injection pump and it has crazy lope at idle. I have tried 3 different injectors to smooth it out and its just the pump. Hell I even sent the pump back to have it checked out. Why do you guys want it to idle rough? It sounds like crap imo. My idle is pretty high like 900 when in gear a/c on...not sure how much higher you would want to set it.

Mine too. I'm thinking another 100 would be good. I'm thinking if I got Marco to up idle to 850 the hrvp would probably sit at 1000. Any disadvantages to a higher idle besides fuel consumption?

At idle mine is smooth, but when I load the engine the rpms drop below 900 and I get lope. Usually this is a 2nd gear start and I have to up the rpms a little before engaging the clutch. It was amusing at first, but can be annoying. I'm guessing the guys with autos may or not experience this depending on how their transmssions (T/C?) loads the engine.

It can be normal and doensn't hurt anything according to II. Not all the pumps do this. See my above post for my current theory
