holley blue pump

holley blue pump

is anybody running a holley blue pump. i had my 275 injectors installed last night, with my comp on 5 truck runs out of fuel on the top end. the guy that installed the injectors said a blue pump will solve this problem and add life to the rest of the fuel system. what do you that are running or thinking of running a blue pump think of that. any response would be greatly appreciated. going to get it installed tuesday if everything checkes out allright.

If I were you I'd check the Product Engineering pump aka PE4200. It has a 2 year warranty on it verses Holleys 90 warranty correct me if I'm wrong. And I think the PE4200 is holding up longer than the Holleys. And Rip is easy to deal with. His web site is http://www.protintnw.com/sa_dodge-fuel.htm

The other one thats easy to deal with is Rob Thomas aka Michigan Performance Diesel (248) 343-1665 he's another one thats real easy to deal with and both have very good knowledge IMO.

the price on the holley is 150.00 compared to 300.00 for the pe 4200. is it true that you get what you pay for or will the holley work ok.

The Holley's are lasting longer than the PE pumps are. Plus they are cheaper, and are easier to get a hold of. The Holley blue by itself will supply plenty of fuel. If not, you can use it as a pusher for the stock pump. Now would be a good time to upgrade to -8 line all the way from the tank to the injection pump.

From what I have seen on the TDR its a gamble with all the aftermarket electric pumps. You might get a pump to hold up but then again you might not. The nice thing about the PE 4200 is it has a 2 year warranty and Product Engineering is testing it on diesel applications where holley is not. I know there are a few running the holleys with good results but IMHO I think there are more positive results with the PE pumps.
I know its more money but for a 2 year warranty I think it would be worth it. I hope this helps.

I am running a Holley Blue back by the tank (pic in my gallery) that was set up by DTR member Ryan. That, coupled with the Wildcat Max Flow System (slightly modified for this application), has me seeing unreal pressures across the board. I have had it on for around a month. Ryan has been running his for some time now and has great pressures and no problems.

My Carter LP is laying in the garage somewhere collecting dust and what not. I might use it for a paperweight, I dunno.....

I agree with "BigBlue!" Both my son and I tried the PE 4200
Fuel Pumps and had alot of trouble with them! Neither one
lasted for more than four (4) months!! We had both eliminated
the stock lift pump, so when the PE failed we were on the side
of the road!! I am now running the Holley Red Pump in
conjunction with my stock lift pump and I never get my
pressure below 12-13 lbs.! So far, the Holley Red has
been on my 02' for almost three months now with no
problems at all! The PE pumps do have a good warranty
but that is not much help when it quits and you are sitting
on the side of the road!! As "Big Blue" said, the Holleys
are readily available (you can get then at any Advance Auto)
and are cheaper.

I had the Holley Blue set up on my truck, replacing the entire fuel system with steel braided -8 lines and the necessary fittings to go through the factory fuel filter. It could not supply enough fuel for as bombed as I am. I ran out of pressure during the 1/4 mile.
I have since installed the FASS.
The old Holley fuel system is for sale. It will work fine for a truck less bombed than mine.

you can get the Holley pumps very reasonable through Summit racing, i use a pusher set-up and the wildcat fuel lines and my pressures are awesome, never below 12 at WOT. my thought is w/ 2 pumps they are "helping" each other out and not putting all the stress on one pump...just my .0002

As gsdog1 said I am running a Blue mounted by the tank. I have also rebuilt alll of the rest of the fuel lines on my system. I have not seen my pressure drop below 10 psi with a drag comp and BD4 injectors. I am happy enough with the set up that I have put together a kit including everything needed to make the upgrade. Laredo Performance Diesel can set you up.

Chris so have you dyno'ed the truck? What are your hp and 1/4 mile times. Im not attacking you, but unless you are in excess of 525-575 hp I dont think that Holly Blue will have any problems keeping up. I have seen the Holly Blue easly support 500 plus hp daily drivers. I have no experience with the F.A.S.S. so I can not comment on that system.

I agree with what J.R. said! No disrespect to you or anything,
but I as I said above, I am running a Holley Red Pump (97 GPH)
in conjunction with the stock lift pump and I never see my
pressure go below 12-13lbs.! To add a little bit to what
J.R. was asking, my best dyno so far was about three weeks
ago up in Durham where I ran 486 H.P./915 Torque. Back in
December 03' at our N.C. Dyno & Drag Race the 02' ran a
12.94 @ 102.98! Is your truck now running in that area??

I just hate to see "mooseman" spend $300.00 on a PE or
$600.00 on a FASS when he can get one of the Holleys for
$100.00-$120.00. We all like to save money!

Nope, not here. If it does die and I am away from home, the Carter LP will pop back in very easily due to the near tank location. Advanced Auto would see me shortly thereafter.
