99 needs a new ECM program that has the high idle feature.
(98.5 and 2000/2001 as well)

Only late 2001's and 2002's came with the right program, and can check the box to activate it.

Yea, lastnight was the first night i started mine in a few days and it was bout 28 outside. I started it with the e-brake on and waited and waited and finally i hear it start reving up real slow all the way to 1,200 RPM. boy was I excited. Now if there was only a way to do that when it was already warm?

My 2001 never did that. I live in the Northeast and it definitely gets cold enough. Can someone inform me of the process to get this to activate? Is this a dealer kind of thing. Really don't want to visit dealer for anything.

Thanks

While I've tried the Smarty & thought it was prety impressive I don't own one but......The cold weather high idle feature that is installed when reverting back to the stock ECM software is great! I came home from work today & went to leave in my Ram & fired it up. After idling in the driveway for about 1.5 minutes the idle began ramping up! It rose up to about 1200-1250 rpms. I thought that was pretty cool. When I start driving my truck again full time back & forth to work I think this is going to be great this winter...

Well i guess i have to find some one in my area with a smarty, because right now it wont fit my budget cause i need a turbo and studs pretty much right now. And i just got done rebuilding my rear and that wound up being allmost 1k. If i cant find someone with a smarty, can the ecm reflash be done threw the obd11 port with a regular scanner from the garage. Is there anyone in the North East PA area? I live 15 minutes from hazleton, 40 minutes from allentwon. Does doug at pdw sell smartys, cause it would be kool if he did and would flash my ecm with one quick? Thanks guys hope to find some one local with a smaty.
