headgasket out

I have oil in the antifreeze tested oil cooler and its good. I was pulling the head and going to o-ring it and new gasket. I was wondering if I really need studs or just o-ring it and use the stock head bolts/new ones. Also when i take it to the machine shop just take the o-ring set and they should be able to get it from there or ask what to machine them to when i order them. Was looking at the head gasket and fire ring set from Garret pure diesel power

After going through all that trouble, would you really want to use factory head bolts? Studs all the way.

ageed there is no sense in putting stock bolts in a ringed head. when i talked to the machinist that was supossed to do my head but couldn't fit it in his machine he said just to get his the rings and he would get it done but garrett at pure diesel power has the measurements you need so just take them to the machinist as well as the rings.

I'm going the stud route with mine, but I do know that "the" Jeff Garmon has had some very good luck with stock bolts and a special torque procedure to 125+ ftlbs
