Does this soud like a blown headgasket
Hey all,
Here is the situation as I can best describe regarding my 97 3500. I am now possibly consuming water, I have smoking from my truck at idle. Truck will spew water from overflow, and I notice it worse when I am working the motor and making more boost. Good thing is I don't have any cross contamination issues. Is it resonable to assume that I most likely have a blown headgasket. If I do, what are recommendations regarding headgasket thickness, and any other recommendations.
Thanks All

certainly sounds like it... sounds like you just sprung a leak to the coolant passage... I'd drain your oil or pull a valve cover and look for snot just in case.
get new head bolts from Cummins, have the head checked for damage/flatness and surface if necessary. if you cut .010" or less, use a .010" gasket, etc. etc.

I agree with Forrest, it does sound like a bad headgasket because the air from compression is being forced back into the cooling system and vents out of the water bottle. I don't know of any other way this can be done without a bad headgasket.
