General HP limitations before studs/orings are needed
General HP limitations before studs/orings are needed
What is the general limitation for HP levels with stock head bolts and gaskets for a 12V?
I plan on getting a HTB2 64/14 turbo. They wastegate them to 42PSI or so.
With proper fueling, etc; what kind of numbers can I put down before needing the studs and o-ringed heads?
Just asking for a general number. I realize the headgaskets can blow at lower than 50PSI boost levels.
Another way to put it may be: What HP can I reach before 50+ PSI of boost is needed to go any higher?

Various post I've read here and on other forums stock headgasket is good for 50 psi, but if you do a search on "ARP studs" look for DonM's post on'em you'll be pleasantly surprised check it out: https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...ight=arp+studs
With stock headgasket and stock bolts retorqued to 118ft lbs i have ran 40,000 miles at 450 hp and 1024 ft lbs of torque made at 40psi with an htb2 62/12. I have blocked the wastegate many times for sled pulling to make more drive pressure to keep the charge lit in 4th low and blocked it will produce around 53 psi.

Above stock levels you'll really find its not "if", but "when".
You've got 2 choices
1. Go until it blows
2. Do it now.
