Gear Splitter
Re:Gear Splitter
If you've got the patience, cheapest would probably be used. "Probably" bc sometimes it may not have the right adapter or might be missing parts OR, even worse, it might be damaged. I bought my Gear Vendors used more than a year ago from the classified section of a Ford diesel website. Paid $900 including shipping but since it was originally used on a Ford C6 tranny I'll have to buy the adapter for whatever tranny on whatever truck I finally settle on. PO did an excellent job of boxing it & included all the extra parts including manuals & it 'appears' to be in excellent condition.

When I was shopping for a used one, I visited:

www.recycler.com (mostly California)
www.ebaymotors.com

& various Ford/GM diesel websites' classifieds.

Since I haven't installed it, I obviously can't answer your question on how I like it but FWIW I only bought it for its OD gear of 0.78 (22%), not its gear splitting capabilities. I'd like to run 4.10's & 75-80mph at a decent rpm -- ~2800rpm vs ~2200rpm.

Good luck.
