Gauges

I know there are several threads going around that have a plethera of differnt options. I have read several but many were somewhat dated.

With that said, I have finally gotten enough cash together for tranny work, a Smarty maybe some injectors, and of course gauges. I am looking for the absolute cheapest route to monitor Boost to 60, fuel, and pyro.

Anyone know anything about the low fuel pressure light from Genos??
Anywho if any of ya' of any reall low prices i could sure use the info. Tranny work being done on the 17th, Ordering Smarty first thing tomorrow from here at DTR.

I will be stretching it awful tight if i go with injectors too. I have considered callin S**** Racing equipment and getting cheap gauges from them.
Woohoo!!

Since you are talking about buying a chip and gauges why don't you get the Edge Juice with Attitude? I think you would kill two birds with one stone and they can be bought for around $725 from Xtremediesel.com. Just my opinion, Eric

The thought had crossed my mind but I think I am sold on the ease and options of the Smarty. Have read pros and cons of the Edge and nothing but pro's about the Smarty.

That aint a bad idea if the look aint super important. And you could use an oil pressure gauge for the FP...

and Oil Pressure for Fuel?? Huh never thought of that. Won't the thinner fuel throw the calibration off? I'll have to look into that. Not so much worried about looks as function.

Thing is it seems a decent set is at very minimum I can find is $350 w/out a pillar and I could get a QZ Commander here at DTR for $360. That kind of seems like a no brainer??

I have looked at the low fuel pressure warning lights from Geno's and Oregon FI (not sure but may be the same thing??) they are much cheaper than a manual gauge but it concerns me that from what i can see they don't some on until you hit 4 psi. isn't the damage already done by then??

IMHO a gauge is WAY better than a light, which is WAY better than nothing. A gauge lets you see how much it is dropping, and you can decide when your comfort level is exceeded.

Many have run an oil pressure gauge for FP, diesel is oil, yes it is thinner, but the gauge does work well, if you don't mind it saying oil. Diesel is fuel oil.

You might PM infidel, he has a link to a place that sells surplus gauges, you should be able to pick it up cheap there.

Ok I think I have this all figured out. Talked to the boys at S***** Racing and they are not a whole heck of alot cheaper than anyone else. The fuel gauge they offer goes to 100psi; so it is a tad over kill. My question is if I go with a water or oil gauge where do I tap into the line?? use a t?? or can a get a fitting that screws into the top of the fuel filter housing??
Also where do I aquire a needle valve for that small of line??

You can get a tapped banjo bolt from Geno's, or tap one yourself. Just put it in the top of the filter housing. And you should be able to get the valve and the rest of your fittings at NAPA. As well as the hose.
