Gauge Questions - Need Opinions
Gauge Questions - Need Opinions
I need some opinions on gauges for my truck... You can see by my sig i have a good old 24v so one gauge I know i'm getting is a fuel pressure gauge.. But my question is that I will prolly be keeping it stock for a a little until i can beef up the tranny when i save some more funds up.. But thats not going to be for a while..
I know you are prolly saying thats what we all thought until the bombing bug bit us...
But I was looking at getting a Pyro, Boost & Fp and mounting them to the pillar.. I guess my first question would be do I need a tranny temp right away if I don't plan on doing any towing or hauling right away just using it as my daily driver to drive back & forth from work about 60 miles total a day.. Then just using it to bop around town... Or should I wait a little and get the tranny now & the boost gauge a little later on? And finally I was looking at getting the ISS Pros EV Series... Has anyone had anyproblems with these? Or is there a better set on the market?

engcogod,
Go ahead and get the tranny gauge, you will want a mount that holds three gauges and probably won't want to leave the extra hole open, or later buy a second mount if you start out with a two gauge mount. When you build the tranny the gauge will not provide any hinderance to removing and replacing it so it's no big deal. Callus if you ned anything we have all the Auto Meter and DiPricol gauges and mounts as well as pre wired gauge harnesses and color matching paints etc.

I'd say do the 3 gauges it at once. Gauges are not exactly fun to install in my opinion and once you get those stupid wires behind the gauge pod, I personally don't want to open it back up.
The max you can get in the A-pillar pod is three gauges plus speaker if you have one there. If you want pyro, boost, and fuel pressure, why not put those three in the A-pillar pod. That's what I just finished. ISSPRO EV guages. They are super nice. Install was easy.
Then, put the transmission temp gauge on a single pod on top of the steering column.
You could do the tranny temp right away, then do the A-pillar gauges later on, or vice-versa. Since one doesn't really impact the other, you wouldn't be tearing into either area twice, just once and done.
Got my stuff from Diesel Manor. David was super to work with. Got a special threaded banjo bolt to hook the fuel pressure gauge line into the line coming off the bottom of the fuel filter from Gino's. Picked up some other miscellaneous standard fittings and lines locally.
