Fuel system idea?

Ok I searched about fuel systems and I have a couple questions that I didnt see mentioned too much. I want to upgrade the fuel system as the truck is nearing no warranty land, before BOMBIN G it. Is a bottom feed worth the trouble? I saw the HID did a bottom feed. I believe it is a good idea and I'm all for it, but if and when does the in tank pickup become a problem? Has anyone upped the intank pick upsize? (I make a 3/8 pickup for one of my old Chryslers before (had to unsolder the sending unit and resolder it to the new bigger line. Not many performance parts for the old C-bodies) I will probably run hard line from the tank to the LP, along with an aux pump. On the aux pump note, some were worried about if one pump dies, being able to draw fuel threw the dead pump. I know it will be twice as much line, but what about use a fuel "Y" block at each end of the system, and run the factory pump and the holley, mallory, etc in parallel? In a sense it would be a redundant fuel system, however I think the "work" each pump would have to do would be less. Of course test each pump alone to see what pressure each was putting out and regulate the higher pump down to the low value at idle. On a WOT, of course if one pump started falling off in pressure, the 2nd pump would make out the difference. On the wiring, I am thinking of using the lift pump stock harness as a trigger to run a set if dedicated relays to run both fuel pumps, hopefully ensuring that full bat voltage reaches both pumps. So is this overkill? I have a habit of that (According to the wife. )

A "Y" block or splitter

It's already 3/8" inside the tank. It goes thru the top 1/4" elbow into the stock pickup line. Once it's in the tank there's 3/8" line running down to a 3"x1" strainer/screen. That assembly's inside the 5" diameter stock pickup reserve system. It's got a one way valve at the bottom of it with another filter under that. It's probably the one thing that Dodge over-engineered on our trucks.

I don't think just a splitter on both ends would work. Wouldn't it just push fuel back through the other system?

I did forget to say to put check valves in the system. It was in my head, just didnt make it to the keyboard. This is just a redundant system incase either pump went bad, it would go back to a "stock" system to get it home. It prolly is a little overkill. Trying to think of a system that will be very reliable. Any other ideas for a good system? Or just the 2 pumps in series?

You may want to consider a single holley red with valves on either side to make it a quick change. At ~$100 from Autozone, you can have 5 fail & still be under the cost of a FASS. That said, I have a FASS. I needed the fuel volume & I've never seen it under 14.5psi.

You can forget the relays and just run a wire from the ASD relay output to power them, same timing and full 12 volts.
