fuel pressure line slowly leaking

just got a brand new mechanical fuel gauge with isolator: from the isolator to the gauge, tube is filled with 50/50 water anti freeze. I bled it properly, but I noticed the fluid level is slowly going down. I can not see any leak at all. My fear is the water is leaking past the diaphram in the isolator and into the fuel side. Any suggestions?

It's not, If anything, it would go teh other way. Fuel into the glycol side.

It's still in there, just below your sight line. It will not affect gauge performance.

Not saying that you did the same thing as me, but I had this same problem and it was due to me not having the proper fittings on the isolator that matched the braided fuel lines. Swapped out the fittings and it worked perfectly.

I know this suggestion is not "legal", but ditch the isolator, run a good diesel rated rubber fuel line with a needle valve and good hose clamps right up to the gauge. I had so many leaks with that plastic line it was not even funny...

It started leaking right away. I prefilled the isolator too. I just don't see where it is leaking. So I'm going to detach it from the I.P. side and observe if antifreeze is leaking from the diaphragm.

Most guys way over tighten the ferrules. This is the most common leak location.

It takes some practice, but I have not had one leak in years.

Mine did not leak in summer (well once it did), but all my leaks were in winter. I think with the -30 like you'll get in calgary, it will leak on you.

I sure would like to know the correct way to tighten them. Mine has leaked from day one. I have replaced the ferrules and the lines several times. Now I have grease gun hose on it and it still leaks down, but not as quick. Not sure where, But I think its under the hood at the isolator. Is it possible to use some other type of fluid in there that will not leak like anti freeze? What is the best sealant to use on the threads of the pipe fittings? Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.
