99% of the guys run a manual guage, some with isolater some w/o in those cases it involves a fitting to tap into the system, be it a tapped banjo from geno's garage, or a custom fitting from vulcan (which I use) or what scotty uses I have forgot but I am sure he can get you something as well....anyhow it is a simple process of tapping the fuel system, running a line to the guage, either through an isolater or not depending on which route you go. done. now I reccomend a valve to act as a snubber to kill the vibes the inj pump produces. if you do any searching you will see what I mean.

now being that you are going electric you would use the tapping procedures I listed including the snubber valve and stop at your isolater/sender. from there it is just a matter of wireing to the guage which should be in the instructions with the gauge.

if it were me I would lose the electric and go manual.....jmo

Good advice, electric fuel pressure gauges don't last long on a diesel, go mechanical.
Why have a gauge that fails more than the system it's supposed to monitor?

The tapped banjo from geno's garage make the install a lot easier but only for a 3rd gen truck as they don't fit on a 2nd gen (don't know about 1st but I'd assume not) and I should know, I got both. I went with a electric gauge too. I know the mech's hardly ever fail but I have my 17 BLONDE (no offense to the fairer headed) daughter driving this truck. It's kinda fun being able to say "You call that a truck? My baby girl drives more truck than that...!"
Yeah, I was outside last nite putting the charger on the truck at 3:30 in the moring. Did you know that our headlights and running lights will burn at least 5 hours without dimming? So I really can't take any chance of a leak. Now is there a way to remote mount the sending unit to so it will last a bit longer? I tried a grease gun hose but just couldn't get that to seal.

Oh and BTW I got one of Geno's tapped banjo fittings I don't need.

I've got geno's tapped banjo's on my 02, they fit just fine. I don't remember if I specified for a 2nd or not when I ordered them.

Maybe it's a 12-24V thing or I ordered the wrong one (but I only remember seeing one...) but what I received does not fit on a 1996 12V. I ended up buying a new banjo bolt from my local ******* (why does the word "dealer" with an 'st' get changed to "*******"?) and tapped it myself per Infidel's excellent instructions (Rock-On Dude!)

Anyone got any suggestions/instructions on mounting an electrical fuel gauge so it might last?

Yes I can help you. Save your money, don't buy another electric guage. buy a manual and install it as above.....you are now set for a very long time.

THe gauge is already bought....might as well run it. I would pull the Banjo bolt out of the bottom of the Fuel Filter housing. Find a Drill press. Drill an 21/64th hole in the bolt from the inside out. Then get your 1/8" NPT Tap and tap it. Use thread sealant and install. Your done. I have done 1000's of them........if you can find a snubber, that would work best...OR you can extend a line out from that fitting to the sending unit to be somewhat of a shock absorber to cushion the pulses of the VP-44. Just get it as far away from the VP-44 while being on the post filter side.......... MY 2

I ordered and should get my elec. fuel pressure gauge any day now. I have the Vulcan relocate kit sitting here ready to put on. Also waiting to receive (tomorrow I hope) the EGT and Boost gauges and Bully Dog Torque Dog. Got all the fluids for changing NV5600 trans. and front and rear differentials and transfer. I think the next few days are going to be fun....er frustrating??? This DTR site has proved very helpful in understanding things. Thanks to all. Dondi
