Fuel Mileage Chip

OK. I HAVE ALL THE POWER I NEED FOR WHAT I AM DOING . IS THERE A CHIP AVAILABLE THAT WORKS AND THAT WILL PAY FOR ITSELF THAT WILL IMPROVE FUEL MILAGE?

Some say the Edge ez will improve your fuel mileage if you keep your foot off the throttle. I have not noticed any difference yet but I did get it before winter and I can't keep my foot off the throttle!

I have the Superchips programmer and noticed about 1.3 miles to the gallon on a trip I took several months ago. I think you would be better served with the Edge EZ or Comp. They have a built in boost fooler which will help keep the exhaust temps in line where the Superchips does not and if you can keep your foot out of it you should see a mileage increase equal or better. There are other boxes also but I am not familiar with them. Another thing to consider is upgrades for your auto trany. A lower stall speed torque converter and upgrade valve body will do wonders. Our stock tranys are known for being a weak spot. I’m getting mine done in a couple of weeks. Just my $0.02 worth
Good Luck

So if I got my math right, if you buy it for fuel savings alone, it will take (big ballpark) about 65,000 miles to pay for itself.....

Should have read the first post better.
Yea if that is the only reason you do it, it's not very cost efficient. I like them for HP and torque the MPG is just a side benefit. The trany up grade has it’s own benefits, better mpg less heat more power to the ground and not heat in the trany fluid. I don’t know what the MPG from the trany work will be yet, then again that is not the reason I’m doing it. I don’t think there is a cost effective way besides good maintenance. The trany and box’s add a lot of factor that is worth the money IMHO.

Herb:

I have basically the same truck as you and did not see any mileage gains by adding the EZ. I have talked to many others who have not seen mileage gains either. However, mileage aside, the EZ was by far the best mod that I have made to my truck.

The Power Raptor and the Edge EZ are the same. Just that The Raptor is sold by another company. I noticed about 2 mph gains and alot more power when towing I found mine on Ebay for a $100 cheaper than most.

Pay for itself? Sounds like a great way to justify it with the wife

I HAVE HAD THE RAPTOR ON MY TRUCK FOR AT LEAST 3 YEARS NOW. MY MILEAGE WENT FROM AROUND 12-13 MPG TO AROUND 16MPG. I PUT THE 275 HP INJECTORS IN & GOT ANOTHER 1.5 MPG . NOW, TO ADD TO THIS, I DRIVE WITH MY FOOT IN IT ALL THE TIME. I HAVE TRIED REAL HARD A COUPLE OF TIMES JUST RUNNING 70 MPH ON THE INTERSTATE & GOTTEN 19.2 MPG. WHEN I RUN AROUND 80 TO 85, I AM GETTING 17.5. THAT SUITS ME FINE. IF I WANT TO GET BETTER FUEL MILEAGE, I WILL DRIVE MY TOYOTA 4 BANGER.

new and broke in at 50,000miles,my truck got 16.with the puck,it got 17.with the 275 injectors it got 18.straight piping the truck got it to 19.these are real numbers figured, and not the 21 it shows on the overhead. if you ask me if it is worth the money,i would do it all again if it didnt help the mileage at all.this is the way cummins should have these trucks running bone stock.
