Front receiver hitch

I just had a custom hitch put on the back of my truck, to get me legal. She's bad, made out of 3/4" plate. I should put a sticker on it that says "Hitch this" or something like that. Now I have the old factory hitch sitting in my garage, was wondering if I could mount it to the front frame, for pulling fords out backwards. Anyone tried this, or do you have to buy a hitch specially made for that?

Well, I was just looking at the front frame and comparing the hitch, it would really take some doing to get the old hitch to work there. The frame rails kind of swoop down toward the ground, and there is a torsion bar or something in the way. You'd have to make some blocks or shims to get the rails level enough to mount the hitch to. And this isn't such a great place to be welding either, with all the engine stuff right there. Dammit. Well, I'll figure something out.

You can buy a front hitch for about $100. Hidden Hitch makes one, and I think Reese does, too.

Take a look at my gallery. I have the front end hitch pictures. This is how it was done on my truck... I'll be using it this weekend to back up a 6000 pound trailer *uphill*

I guess I'll check out Reese and Hidden Hitch. $100 isn't bad, I could come up with $100 worth of new cuss words just trying to get my old hitch to fit in there.
H.O.Diesel that looks like a pretty cool setup. Your truck color scheme is same as mine. Looks good with that tractor on there. I'll have to figure out how to put some pics on here of mine with the bobcat on it.

I agree if you can get it done for $100 that is the way to go! It is very useful to have the front hitch. Thank you for the nice comments.

Plus, you can sell the one from the back to make up for almost the $100 new one.
