Question Front mounted receiver hitch?

Has anyone else put one on the front? I want to put one on mine but I am wondering if there is anything I should worry about?

i recall seeing a pic of one of the members selling theirs off of the truck. he stated he had to cut into the front air dam slightly. same year as yours. the product was WARN. check out their website.

Mine's built into my Brown's Welding (RanchHand) bumper..

I do remember one person here tearing reverse out of their tranny by trying to pull someone in reverse...

Except for using a multi-mount winch, what's the purpose? I'm genuinely curious - haven't thought of anything I could use mine for (except a good platform for a portable vise..)

I am thinking of getting one of those front steps that goes in it to allow me access to my engine bay. As well, we camp and to be able to put one of those front mounted racks to put coolers and such on is another thing. Finally, we are planning to get a slide in camper for it. So I can use my reese hitch bike rack up there. I don't intend to do any pulling with it.

I saw a guy that attached his generator in a welded lock box on the front receiver for camping. He had an in bed camper.

j.c. whitney carries them, if I remember right, they may have a new air dam for the mount too.

I'd have to see how the truck ran and how much of the grill was blocked before I ran it too much with stuff actually ON it while driving tho. Certainly once parked, being able to put stuff there is important.

Parking a trailer--puts the wheels doing the turning much closer to the pivot point.

I had one on my last truck, makes parking something in a tight spot alot easier, I can do it either way but it's nice to see a little better if your putting something in a tight spot...

another thing that I liked was that you could throw a D-ring reciver in there and pull stuff in reverse, again, easier to see what you were doing...

My ARB bumper has built-in tow hooks for that. Used them to drag the rented Powerhouse Prowler thingamajig out of the yard when I got it stuck... You're right, it was nice to be able to watch what I was doing without having to turn around.

Pulling trucks around here often use them to hang weights off the front for extra traction, don't know if it actually helps or not, but I've seen it done

I put a reese front hitch on mine. Cut a small square in the front of my air dam and mounted it through that. Works excellent. I can show some pics if you would like.

The guy Igot mine truck from put a slide in hitch reciever on because there are no tow hooks on these trucks. Well if seen some that do that are newer trucks .Like to get a pair, they mount on the bottom frame rails.

The reciever on mine is just one of those with a plate welded on the square tube and bolted to the front cross member. He cut a square hole in the front spoiler plastic to slide the hitch in. Pretty easy install.
