Thats the problem I have been seeing. Every install has a different setup depending on the pump year.

I will have to re-read the thread here and see the exact thickness of washer. I was thinking of getting some machinery shaft shims as they are harder and may fit better?? I dunno.. Sorta afraid to try... I don't really want to test my Positive Air Shutoff...

I just installed a 3k kit on a 160 pump and it pulls hard almost all the way to 3000, i have to let off because i am not getting enough fuel up top i think , i get up to about 2700 and it spits and sputters white and blue smoke. So i am getting my timing at 17*.
would this free gsk work with this already installed or am i just to stay with the 3k GSK ?? I plan to get the #60 valve springs , so i want to rev to 4k . so once i get the valve springs should i install the stock govenor springs and do the free gsk mod?

Have you check your lift pump pressures and if your overflow valve is good. That's the indication of no fuel on the top-end.
Nothing wrong with your 3k GSK. My '95 with the 160 pump and 3k kit pulls hard all the way to 3250rpm.

.
definitly. the 160 pump has a weak overflow valve, i used to stretch the spring in out trucks overflow valve a bit, it helps a lot

Ok, I JUST finished up this mod about an hour ago...I have a 96 180 pump (Ca, EGR....but EGR eliminated). I can free rev the engine to about 3400, and it pulls to about 3000 then my boost rapidly drops from 38 psi to 20-23psi. I also am having the hanging RPM problem....right about 2K. If I turn on my exhausst brake for a moment and shut it off, idle goes to 650 and stays. This of course is after adjusting the slow idle stop. I am going to back off one click tomorrow so I will report.

On the rapid boost loss, could that be my wastegate opening too soon? I have the vacuum line to it plugges but I am thinking I need to clamp the wastegate closed. HELP!!

From what I gather, it seems to only work on the 94 & 95's.

We did it to a buddies and it was hanging around 2k no matter what we did we went in 1,2,3,4,5 clicks and vise versa didnt make much difference. No matter what we did it didt work we had the caliper and everything but no go. I am not sure exactly what the prob is. I know i did it on my 96 215 pump worked flawlessly i love the mod i wish it worked on all of our vehicles, but i am sure it will get figured out just a matter of time.
