FPGauge Install issues
FPGauge Install issues
So i installed everything. super stoaked. Now the truck wont start... In all my research no one ever said you have to bleed the line..... Do these trucks have a primar lever like my 92? or do i need to crack an injector??
Mine started up without problem. I hope your lift pump is ok. Does it pump when the starter is bumped? You should see the pump start and see some pressure on the guage. If so Then try cracking #3 injector. Good luck.
So i have a direct line from the forward most port on the filter canister only thing inline is a needle valve which is open. the LP is ok as it comes on and pumps fuel about 18 inches into teh FP gauge line. bump and let sit for 45sec while it runs. then bump again. did this 3-4 times and just turns over and over(i only cranked for 10-15 seconds if that long) then let sit for 2min.
When i crack the line am i trying to start the truck or just bumping till it spurts out?? I did crack #1 and bump for 2 times but no fuel came out. Its getting dark out so ill have to get a buddy to help tomorrow while i crack 1 and 3... this is so lame

when I did my fp gauge I also did the fuel filter. My '01 has a schrader valve right where the fuel line goes into the ip. I just had to bump the starter 3 times to blow all the air out of the filter and lines, through the schrader valve. A small screw driver worked with a yogurt cup to catch the fuel. never had to crack an injector line, it just started after about 2 cups of fuel came out.
I've had the fuel system apart a few times now and I have good luck cracking the feed connection at the vp and running the (lift) pump until fuel comes out there, tightening it while fuel is still flowing. It starts almost right up after that. Simply running the pump several times did not prime the system.
I've never had to crack an line to start the truck, even after multiple re-works of the FP guage install, fuel line work, Fuel filter swaps, and even injector swaps.
All you need to do is bump the starter and let the pump run.
Then crank the truck over WITH THE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR. It will take some cranking, but if you have good fuel supply it WILL start.
Don't crank the starter more than 20 seconds or so-- let it cool for a minute or two before cranking again.

cracked 1 and 3, and still get nothing, got some(lil) sputter and some fuel came out other than that back to square one...
UPDATE: its now running. had to do 3 injector lines. Bad news is the gauge only reads about 10.5 psi at idle. but the fuel only went about half way through the line(never filling the line) i turned teh needle valve off because i didnt know if when i shut teh motor off if that air was just going to go right back in the fuel system???

I would crack the line at the guage and bump the starter to purge the line. It should however read ok with some air in the line. With the hard start symptoms I hope your lift pump is not bad.
