Fog light wiring
Fog light wiring
My truck didnt come with fog lights but there is a wiring harness running along bottom of the bumper, is that for fog lights? If so what do I have to do to install fog lights on my truck? Swap dash switch?
It has been a while since I had the stock fog lights but if I recall the plug up front was underneath on the drivers side of center. Yes you would need the new dash switch that has the fog light function. You will also need the stock foglights complete assembly (not sure if they come in several parts or just as a complete unit w/wiring harness).
If you are thinking of using aftermarket lights instead of the oem know that the lights are negatively switched so power goes to them all the time and it is the ground that is switched. Now that doesnt mean that you cant use aftermarket fog lights but you will have to make sure they are not grounded at all in the mounting method/process. Otherwise they are on all the time and you cant turn them off.
If using the oem bumper, lights and switch it should be pretty much plug and play. Way back I think the dealer sold a kit that had everything you needed and it was in the 150-200 range but that was years ago.
