Fixing To Install A 2 Inch Lift - Any Advice?

Im fixing to install a 2 inch lift and also replace my stock slops with some shocks that are +2".

Any advice from people that have done this before on a 2wd?

Does the steering knuckle have to come off?

Do I need special tools to pull the tie rods off?

I put the Skyjacker D25 coils (2") and shocks that had a 2" longer stroke. Pretty easy job if you disconnect the front axle then lift the frame a bit. This lets the old springs fall right out (no need for a spring compressor) and lets you slap the new ones in. Your install may be different (you didnt' mention if you are going with 2" spacers or 2" springs, but I assume since you mention 2" longer shock, you are going with 2" springs). Either way, overall, a very easy job. No need to disconnect knuckles. Just the sway bar and one or two minor things up front (tie rod ends, and I didn't use a special tool).

I got 2 inch longer shocks and Im using the 2 inch higher spacers that sit on top of the springs. Should I have bought bigger springs instead?

Since you are using spacers with stock springs, you shouldn't need shocks with a longer stroke. I would only get the longer shocks if going to longer springs.

I guess im confused cause I got the spring spacers that raise the truck up 2 inches. I also got shocks that are +2 inches over stock.

Is it better to return the spacers and run bigger springs (they should be the same length wise right?)

Is there a ride difference between stock springs + 2" spacers vs +2" longer springs?

Rob...his truck is 2wd

Not hard...you don't need any special tools for a 2wd...just put the truck on jack stands, and use the jack as your spring compressor Put the spacers on, and reinstall! Make sure to check the clearance on the upper ball joint on the bump stop mount!!!!! With 2.5" in mine, it would rest on the bump stop mount, so I had to take some of the lift off!
