Question First tow with heavy trailer?

Hi all, I am purchasin a gooseneck horse trailer on sunday and was wondering what the best setting with the smarty would be to tow with. I have towed before with it and setting 5 seemed great, but now i have the revo to use and settin 9 works so much better runnin empty i thought i might be able to use one of the higher settings. I can manage the torque and all. Any help would be great. At least get me in the ballpark. The trailer is a 2 horse with livin quarters. I gestimate total weight of trailer will be round #6900.

Clutch or auto tranny might not like smarty on 9 unless they are beefed up already.

6900 is not that heavy but the stock drivetrain is barely adequate with stock torque, adding 100 ft lbs or more can break stock components if you hotrod with the load at all.

I hauled a Kiefer 6 horse slant with a small living quarter loaded to 11,000 and it towed fine on Smarty 7.

Only thing I did was drop back down to a 265 tire and drove by the pyrometer and had no problems at all.

OOps i see sig, wasn't there. I have a 2001 automatic, hy turbo, better exhaust, better intake, mystery switch, pyro, boost, and tranny gauges. It towed great before on level 5. But now level 9 works great because i can adjust things with the revo. now it don't have that all power feel at only 1/2 inch throttle. Seems to almost give more power the more you push peddle like it supposed to. Picked trailer up yesterday and towed it right where it's been set, level 9. It towed nicely. I watched the gauges and they stayed well within the safe zones. I think I will take the smarty with me just in case, but leave it set where it is for now.

I would think you could drive on whatever level you want as long as you keep an eye on the pyro. 6,900 pounds in nothing. I've been towing my 5th wheel for the past few years with my Juice and mild injectors and haven't had any problems. The lightest the 5th wheel is without toys is 14,000 pounds. Eric

ok, i ended up changing to level 7 and lowered other settings. It towed real nice. But it shifted hard and was running the r's up before shifting, even when i drove without the trailer. I think it would have been better on the setting 9 with the other settings where i had them. On 9 I have smooth power right through the r's. Pyro never got close to being to high. I hit 32 psi on boost a few times. Ended up in hury to get back so wife could go to work on time. Ran 85 on interstate just beautifully. But cans in the bed flew out at that speed. LOL
