My Napa guys told me the spring sale is a Wix promotion and it's up to the individual store if they want to do it.
Best would be to ask at your local Napa.

K&N afe and the like all advertise better air flow,HOW? by letting more crap through I have been down that road and yes I did clean and oil just like the manual said to do .I lived on 5 miles of powdered dirt roads and you could plane as day see the dirt getting through the washables best bet for filtering in high dust areas is the BHAF stock filter would probably work if the filter box was worth a darn an sealed the filter . and who was the moron that thought of picking up air from inside the fender where the tire fills it with dust from the road .paper filters are still proven to filter better then washables.

My understanding is they are more for highway/track use? If used in a high dust application, common sense would dictate an oiled filter would need to be serviced very often....

You should double check your intake at the fender.... if you're sucking dust in there, you need to do some fixin'

Now, if you just like going out and cranking on your truck every weekend and redundant maintenance such as filter cleaning by all means please do. It's one of the most fancy things in the chain auto parts stores, just wanting to make sure folks check what else is in the world before they fall for all the hype...or snake oil sales.
Check out #26. Doesn't sound like a terribly common problem.... I found it comical actually http://www.knfilters.com/faq.htm

I don't understand, it seems like nothing more than common sense to me.

Sorry guys, typo. I meant 27. http://www.knfilters.com/faq.htm#26
If you read through it and click on the links for sensor testing you'll see the failing sensors are urban myth. Hear-say. Unproven. I know how those sensors work and I can't imagine how oil would fail one anyways, even without reading about their testing. I myself am a diesel mechanic at a dealership and I know for a fact that a lot of warranty (and a lot of regular) repairs are made to components that have not failed. The repairs are made as "diagnosis" because troubleshooting time is too expensive - it's cheaper to replace parts. That's why we have to hold on to warranty parts for 3 months before chucking them. Manufacturer wants them back. My manufacturer tells me that on average, 85% of controllers replaced on warranty test fully functional. So just because I've heard some have been replaced or one guy says 500 of them have been diagnosed as "bad" and replaced, doesn't necessarily mean there's a problem with the part.
