Re:fast cooler

John..Fast coolers, are billet aluminum pans, approx 8x3" which bolt on 5 & 6 speed manual transmissions, where the PTO cover is located on each side. The fast coolers, come with a magnetic dip-stick, and 1/4" npt tap & plug should you want to monitor you tranny's temp. They can also be purchased with a lexan cover plate, for those **** enought to monitor the fluid level buy crawling under your truck everyday. The advantage of the Fast Coolers is they provide better heat displacement, and increase your tranny fluid capacity by two quarts.. I installed a set this year, and although I don't monitor my trannys heat temps, I now have a peace of mind that I'm providing more fluids for lubrication and cooling to my 6-sp.

Re:fast cooler

I put them on my truck about two years ago.
Looks like from your sig, a pair would not hurt your truck at all if it is a manual trans.

Re:fast cooler

I dont know about anyone else but my tranny is harder to shift untill it gets good and warm. I once read a test a guy did who installed a temp gauge in his manual tranny and it never got above 200*, even while towing heavy. As where an auto can reach 300*+ if not carefull. I really dont see the point of manual tranny coolers except for the lexan. How about a differential cooler? That gets hot, too?

Re:fast cooler

Got a cooler on my differential. It's called a Mag Hytec cover and is finned for cooling and is bigger for extra capacity. My axle holds almost eight quarts.
I would like to see a test with a temp gauge on a stock diff and then the same unit with a Mag Hytec installed. NOT BASHING but I would guess to say the cooler temps (if any) would come from the added capacity only. I cant see where that an 8" area of fins isnt going to do much on such a huge thick differential, but adding extra oil volume will lead to an extended oil life.

I've only seen a diff cooler with pump on a Le Mans race car.

Has anyone checked manual tranny temps with and without cooler? Just wondering.
