which fass LP should i get??
hey everyone im around 62000 miles on my truck now and i really want to get a new lp to replace the stock one. i def. want to go with fass but im not sure if its worth spending the extra money on the fass pump with the filters on it for around 635.00 or just the pump for around 420.00.... any advice would be lovely. thanks!!
It's strictly your choice. The filters are nice and the water separator is an added bonus...but the motors are identical. If the HPFP (without fliters) was on the market when I got mine...not sure One bhich I would get?
Big advantage of the full FASS to me, is eliminating the stock fuel filter...when working on the left side of the engine. Also love bigger fuel filter, which allows filtering down to 2 microns without affecting flow.
I do think the FASS is worth the extra money....probably depends on your budget more than anything else.
Either way, you'll solve your lift pump concerns for the life of your CTD.

I just bought the 150/95-1008 and Im in the process of installing as I type. Its pretty easy to install there is a magazine article that you can print off on the dieselpp.com site that makes it a little easier along with the instructions they send. The kit has everything you need from tank to Ip.
I have the FASS 95 system. If I had to do it again, I would go for the 95/150. The reason is I did not want to drop my fuel tank and install the fuel pickup tube. Either system will work well for you truck, but I also think the filtering system on the FASS is much better than the factory system. It may be in my head, but I think my truck runs much better now and seems to have better throttle response. Before FASS, I was running the 1/2" Vulcan relo kit. It was really nice and made a big difference on fuel pressure. I swapped out as I was tired of replacing carter lift pumps

It does get a little confusing. Fact - the 95 gph pump will support ANY amount of hp a 2nd Gen CTD can throw at it. Many run the 150 gph pump with equal success but it's not needed.
The 150 gph and the 200 gph pumps don't fall into the 'needed' category till you get to the third Gen trucks.
There is, IMO, a tendency to feel bigger is better.... and bigger does seem to sell, all else being equal. 1/2" fuel lines are nice (if dealing with factory LP), but the 3/8" lines provided by FASS have been proven to supply all the fuel the IP can use. Just saw where Glacier offers a 5/8" fuel tank pick up hose! Way overkill, IMO, but they will probably sell lots. And then there is the triple disk converters in automatic trannys, where single disks have proven they can handle 900+ HP.
My 95 gph FASS pump was acting up a bit (very early model) and FASS had just come out with the 150 gph so 'Diesel Dan' asked me to try it as a comparison. I could see no difference... both are great.
MKE56 - if you will sleep better at night with a 150 gph FASS pump... by all means go for it. It won't hurt a thing and it's the same price.
