FASS 150GPH and stock tank pickup... go or no go?
Alright, I ordered my FASS and a Vulcan draw straw from Eric @ Vulcan, and I haven't received the draw straw yet but the FASS has arrived. The manual for the 150gph FASS says that a larger tank pickup is "recommended"... can I install the FASS tomorrow so I can stop being stingy with the throttle (also just installed a new Edge Juice w/Attitude), or am I going to burn up the pump on the FASS or something if I don't install the larger tank pickup at the same time?
Advice please... I have limited shop time/space available, so I'm trying to maximize what I can get done in the next couple days, and then I will drop the tank over the new years weekend and get the draw straw in...

Is it a Model 150/150 gph... or the 95/150 gph?
Either way I believe as long as you do not have the in tank lift pump it will work fine with, or without, the Draw Straw! I know it will on the 150/150.
My understanding is that warning is only for the in tank pumps.

Yeah, my truck hasn't been rigged with the in-tank pump... still using the stock lift pump in stock location... 9psi @ idle, 6-7 while driving, and close to ZILCH at WOT.
The FASS setup I got is the 95/150gph. What's the difference between that and the 150/150?
I'm going to go ahead and do the install today.

Thanks for the encouragement guys. It's all installed and rockin'. No leaks, about 18psi at idle, I'm fat and happy and ready for Christmas festivities (first I gotta take a shower to rid myself of diesel smell though...

I will have to double check...but i believe you can get the water sep. at any parts store.....the fuel filter was made just for the 95 Series FASS. I would suggest if you have any worries about the filter to stick a spare behind the seat.
You can run the 150 GPH units most of the time with no issue with the stock pick-up. If you get pressure fluctuations, or tons of noise coming from the FASS, this might be signs of the pick-up getting stopped up. Most of the trucks out there dont have issue. I am on 3 years on my 150 GPH now......
BUT you can't go wrong with the Draw Straw......never have an issue with the pick-up again.......
I hear Santa....im going to bed! haha.....Night yall and Merry Christmas!

Not desiring to highjack, but have just stumbled across a lot of discussion about Draw Straws when using the in tank pump and a secondary pump.
I have the in tank pump, and have a holley pump that I had planned to put inline with the in tank pump. Can this still be done or am I better off with a draw straw and a holley pump alone?

Just installed the draw tube from PDR Diesel on my 95/150. Pump noise level is down and I gained 1 LBS in pressure. To drop the tank and put in the draw tube was a snap and well worth the $45.00 spent on the draw tube. I ran my FASS 95/150 prior for 6 months with no issues. Love the FASS...
