ez edge

Has any body out there run the Edge 1000 (edge ez module) or the superchip programer? Wich is the best? Will I get a milage increase? Best Power? I'm looking to buy one and don't know if i should or wich one if I do. I here they cause the engine to give the computer a overboast code. Is this true?

thanks

Re:ez edge

The Edge EZ has a boost fooler, so won't set any codes unless the boost elbow is installed without the EZ. I have significant more power with it and about 2 MPG loss in economy.

Re:ez edge

I also have the EZ, it runs much better (more HP) than stock and gets the same or better fuel milage.

I have never had it set any codes, made my stock tranny slip though.

Re:ez edge

I've heard of them setting off a map sensor code if the connections in the plug get dirty. Not a big deal, just clean the plug out. I've never had mine set any type of code. You should actually get an increase in mileage, if you can keep off the go pedal. I got 2mpg better once, with no flooring it or makeing pretty smoke.

Re:ez edge

The superchips tuner hasn't been to reliable, I tried one and got no power increase. The shop i work at just got a bunch of new ones in today, but we haven't had any on the dyno yet. I'll let you know if they have improved them and what the horsepower ratings are. I've ran an ez on mine which gave me more power than the vanakken and hypertech tuner. Trying to remember off the top of my head, i believe the ez gave me around 45hp to the rear wheels. As far as milage goes. I lost maybe 1 MPG running the ez. probably the biggest reason it hurts your mileage is, at least for me, i'm always wanting to put my foot in it more. ;D as for highway cruising it wont hurt your mileage really.

sounds like your about to get bit by the bomb bug... ha ha

Re:ez edge

DDD,

I ran the EZ on my '99 for about nine months and loved it. The power over stock was great and my fuel economy also went up. I really did'nt have much smoke at all with that set up and it was simple and seemed to be safe for the truck. I don't tow really heavy but it helped a great deal there as well.
