An exhausting question
Wild hair and got to thinking.
Wanting to upgrade the exhaust. Thinking about 4" downpipe, then a 4" to dual 3" "Y", dual 3" back to dual 3" tailpipes and out the back on each side of the hitch. Can always add mufflers if the sound is a bit much.
Any thoughts on this?
What about soot on the tailgate and bumper?
Drone?
Other issues?
I know that a single 4" is the cheapest route to go, but I still like the looks of the duals. With that in mind pick this idea apart.

OBTW, Ft. Hood still pulls about a 30" vacuum. Sure feels go to be home with mama and real trees.

I am looking in to stacking mine - for now 4" downpipe, up to 5" through the Y to 6" stacks.
Why not go 4" all the way to the rear, and then some nice 5" tips?
Doubt soot on the tailgate will be an issue. My 4" straight piped exhaust all running the stock route to the rear is no problem, so I doubt what you are talking about would be an issue.
Would hate to be riding in a lowered ricer behind you!

I would think that with the tailpipes sticking straight out the back by the hitch, that you would not have a drone. You probly wouldnt even hear it at cruising speeds. The setups that are real loud for the driver are the ones sticking out the sides, and the ones close to the cab (stacks).
good luck.
good luck.
I've given away several sets of stock pipes after replacing with larger ones to folks who were planning on making duals with them. The only end result I've seen was one where the exhaust exited on both sides to the rear of the tires.
Looked and sounded good.
