Exhaust lag question...? Anyone?
Ok, I put all my mods on at the same time I did my exhaust system. I have a 6" bullydog. 4" from turbo past transfer case then into 6" I have the muffler turned the opposite way so it really sounds like a semi w/out muffler super deep...love it! My question is, I can't tell there's back pressure or lag cause it's opened so wide so soon, I heard I should put about 4' of 4" pipe then let it open to 6" will I be able to tell that it was lagging or there was back pressure or whatever? I don't want to do it if there wont be a big difference. Take off in 1st isn't great or anything but as soon as it hits 2nd 3rd and 4th it really gets after it. What do you guys think? Thanks!
The muffler that came with it is most likely a straight through design with louvers in it....similar to a glasspack. Installing it backwards kinda negates its purpose and there is a little bit of a difference in flow that affects backpressure.
Backpressure in a diesel is different than in a gasoline. Too little bp in a gas kills low end power but in a diesel it does not. It's said too little bp will slow the spooling of the turbo but I have found it to be a very minute, if noticeable, difference. Just leave it the way it is if you like it.

Ok, thanks that's what I needed to know. And yes the muffler is straight through with louvers. I was just wondering about it before I go ahead and weld it together, it's just clamped right now and get's loose once in a while. So when I go over a bad bump or something it kinda rattle and you can kinda tell inside the cab, anyone have any other suggestions other than welding?
