Star wheel....lag?

In trying to minimize smoke, I have adjusted the star wheel tighter, (away from engine) 1 1/4 turns. It seems as though there is more turbo lag now. The smoke is still there, EGT's are good but the truck is a bit doggy on take off. I have a #8 plate just a tad forward of stock position, timing set @ 15.0 BTDC, "BHAF". I'm not looking to break anything just have things right for drivability. Would the lever to plate position adjustment come into play here??

Your ideas are appreciated.

Michael

Just run the AFC all the way to the front of the engine you will be fine. Just don't keep your foot on the floorboard and you will be fine.
DM01

Re:Star wheel....lag?

Set the starwheel at least 2/3 of the way forward and you should be just fine with your plate where it is. If you are still having problems I can supply a Variable Valet that will cure your problems. if interested PM me your E-mail and I will send a info sheet.
Bruce
