engine warm up? how long?
If you can get the your ecm updated from the dealership or with a smarty the high idle feature will help warm your truck up faster in cold temps. The one day this year it got down to single digit temps I had to go out so I let the truck idle and the water temp was over 140 in 10-15 minutes.
I let mine warm up in the morning for about 5 minutes before leaving, I drive to work about 10 miles every day, takes 15 minutes all through town, I'm over halfway before my needle starts to move, but if you thought that was bad, my dad has a 95 5.9 gasser, he can drive to work ( works at the same place) and the needle is still buried cold, so be happy u get some heat in a few miles
I just replaced my T-Stat and flushed system, what a difference. All you guys have too slow of warm up times, I bet your T-Stats are stuck open at just a trickle. My old one was actually damaged as one side of the bottom housing was broke and so the temp pin and spring mated up at a funny angle. Just enough to allow a trickle by the T- Stat and cause long warm up times. My truck is warm after 5 miles and at 180* after 7 miles when it is -5* Now that it's warm out 40* plus mornings, one mile till warm air.
