I have been told that there is an engine driven air comp. that can be mounted in front of the p/s pump. Is this true and if so were can I get one?

The compressor that Cummins offers to mount at the PS pump won't fit in the Dodge application, there is just not enough room. You have to use a belt driven type that mounts on the passenger side of the engine.

Bill, will a compressor off a 780 case backhoe work. It bolts on the top of the engine and it drives off a pulley behind the fan, I think. I thought I saw a kit that uses a york compressor and does the same thing. Or close to it. Just an idea Jim

I'm pretty sure it has to do with the pulley and belt configurations. For a long while he didn't have one available for 24 valves with a Nippondenso alternator, either, just Bosch.

You can put the Cummins econ compressor on the truck, but trust me, you don't want to, expensive, much mods, cramped and crowded. Power steering pump from big truck, reset the pressure, moded motor mounts, and so on. You really don't want to do it. I have one but the mods were done with the engine out of the truck. And hope you never have to change the vp44, I am doing that now.

Nope...it has to do with no place to mount one. I talked with them a while back and he said there was no place he felt comfortable mounting a compressor on a 12v.

Nothing else available for a CTD comes anywhere close to the air delivery.

EDIT: I was wrong, it's only a wimpy 70cfm, up to 175psi
