Electric fuel pressure gauge install on 01

Where are you guys hooking up these senders on the 01 trucks?

Any pictures?

Mines electric and I put in the test port on the Vp. I picked up a banjo bolt from diesel manor, and the sender screwed right into it.

I'm off the test port on the VP, picked up the hose from Geno's and have it run up and wire tied off near the master cylinder.

I have the billet filter cover from Genos. Is it better to run it off the test port or the fitting on the cover? Where will I get the most accurate reading? My guage will be here any day. I want to do it right the first time...

This billet aluminum filter housing cap from Geno's is a really classy way to dress the engine up and tap for fuel pressure at the filter while leaving the test port alone.

Look HERE for more info on the cap.

FWIW, the Schrader valve test port at the VP44 inlet is a #4 SAE 45* flare fitting.....you can go to your local hydraulic fitting supplier to get the adaptor that will mate the SAE fitting to the NPT fitting on the sender.....but it is best NOT to mount the sender directly to the engine since the vibration will eventually destroy it. Instead, I would suggest that you mount it remotely with some hose and fittings.

Whoops, Turbo6guy types faster than me!

FWIW, there is no advantage to tapping for FP from the test port compared to the Geno's filter housing cap.

I've got my electric sender on a piece of hose for vibration isolation.

Also, I've got it mounted PRE fuel filter at the tap on top of the filter. It's main use is to monitor the (factory) lift pump pressure.

I change fuel filters every 7500 miles at oil change. If I'm showing good pressure on the gauge, and the engine falls on it's face after a fill up, I know it's the fuel and not the lift pump. Hasn't happened yet...carry a spare filter anyway. (and lift pump)

Thinking about upgrading Top?
Properly valved and all?

Another place not mentioned is a tapped banjo on the bottom of the fuel cannister.
I don't have any pics, but I know there are a couple in the photo section of other members setups.

Moose10 maybe? Mopar1973man?

No I am still quite happy with my measley 12 valves rattling and clanging under my hood

Just trying to help a friend with installation of his new gauge and I appreciate everybody's help

Lary, there are some pics of my sender mount in my gallery. As for where I tapped, right now I come off the bottom of the fuel filter housing as that's where the port is on the Wildcat line kit that I have. Before the Wildcast kit, I used a tapped banjo in the VP44 inlet.

I run a T-connection on the discharge side of the filter, from there I ran 18" of stainless braided - to a snuber valve - to the sending unit. Nice and steady pressure readings...no bouncing around from the injection pulses.
