I just got back from a trip to edmonton Alberta and I noticed that my egt temp was running at about 700 to 750. I was not pulling anything and the truck was empty. I also noticed that the tail pipe was really black. I had my edge set on 1 on the whole trip. I was going highway speed 65 to 70 mph. fuel engine temp and eveery other thing was normal.Is this normal or do I have a problem starting. Any info would be great. what is normal egt temp for just crusing down highway. thanks for your time. Garry

the reason I asked this is that the temp has never been that high. It has usually been running around 500 to 600. would changing the air filter have anything to do with the temp change. I just installed a baldwin air filter.

 

Not at the light loads you'd associate with those temps.

Any number of things could explain the variance. Check your intercooler boots and make sure there aren't any leaks in the intake tract.

is edmonton higher in elevation than where you normally drive? higher elev=less air
